LAHORE: Pakistan is currently short-listing its candidates for the post of United Nations secretary general and President Pervez Musharraf will take the final decision on the issue, the Asian Age reported on Saturday. The Indian newspaper telephoned Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri in Islamabad, who denied that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was likely to be a candidate for the post. The newspaper said that Kasuri did not any details, but did mention that a decision on the issue would be taken "at the highest level". The Asian Age claimed that India's decision to field Shashi Tharoor for the UN's top post "is being read in Islamabad as a direct 'invitation' for Pakistan to enter the race". All make way for UN SecGen A.Q. Khan. Huzzah! |
