(KUNA) -- Five people, including two civilians and an Indian army officer, were killed and ten people were injured, in continuing violence across Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir Saturday.

Captain S.D. Singh was killed in an ecncounter with militants in Ratnipora village of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. Two rebels were also killed in the fighting, news agency United News of India reported Saturday. An Indian security personnel was also injured in the incident. The killed guerrillas have been identified as Nisar Ahmad, district commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen, and Abrar Ahmad.

In another incident, rebels lobbed a grenade at an installation of security forces in Srinagar, killing a civilian and injuring nine people including a security personnel, the news agency reported.

In another incident, a youth was killed in Palhalan town in Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, when guerrillas fired at the motorcade of security officer and the officer's guards retaliated. A woman sustained injuries in a shootout, the agency further reported.
