SRINAGAR, India - Two suspected Islamic terrorists guerrillas and one government soldier were killed in a shootout in the Indian portion of Kashmir early Saturday, police said.

The fighting began when the soldiers raided the village of Ratnipora, acting on a tip that suspected terrorists militants were hiding there, Imtiyaz Ahmad, a police officer, said. Two suspected terrorists rebels and one soldier were killed in the exchange of gunfire, Ahmad said. One soldier was also wounded in the fighting in Ratnipora, about 35 kilometers (22 miles) southwest of Srinagar, the summer capital of IndiaÂ’s Jammu-Kashmir state, Ahmad said.

Security forces cordoned off the area to check if more suspected terrorists rebels were hiding there, he said.
