Afghanistan: On the Brink

Long, tortured piece from the New York Review of Books by Ahmad Rashid. Everyone you want to know about why Afghanistan will go down the tubes and why (natch) it's all our fault.

#4  This isn't the NYT Book Review, it's the even nuttier-left New York Review of Books.

#3  I'll read the NY Times and their reviews when hell freezes over. If they oppose something it's either good for me or good for America. I'm fine with that

#2  Ahmad better just stick to the NFL and NBA.

His writing just won't hack it...

#1  There is seasonal infiltration going on in Afghanistan. It will be beaten back. My concern is with the pro-Taliban pronouncements that are reportedly flowing from Afghan mosques. That subverts the war, and should be squelched by Karzai.
