Three Israeli airstrikes on eastern Gaza kill five Palestinians
2006-08-30
Five Palestinians were killed and three were injured on Wednesday morning in three separate Israeli army airstrikes carried out by reconnaissance drones on eastern Gaza City, medics and eyewitnesses reported. The witnesses said that Israeli drones fired three air-to- ground missiles at groups of people, including militants gathering into Sheja'eya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, killing five militants and wounding three civilians.

They said that following the first strike, in which three were killed, militants gathered again in the area and clashes with Israeli soldiers, and the drone fired another missile which killed a forth Palestinian. Then the drone came back again and fired a third missile at the militants who were opening fire at Israeli soldiers while seizing the roofs of buildings in the neighborhood, killing the fifth Palestinian. Palestinian doctors at Shiffa Hospital in Gaza City confirmed that the hospital firstly received three dead bodies and three wounded people by the first airstrike, and two other bodies were received later separately after the second and the third airstrikes.

The Israeli army has been carrying a ground operation into the neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, which is not far from Karni commercial crossing point, which was also closed down before Palestinian commerce.

#8  RWV, I almost read that as;

"In another few years it will be a Raven UAV dropping a cherry bomb."

#7  As a former SAC-trained killer, I can only lament the continuing downgrading of the term airstrike. An airstrike used to be three cells of B-52s unloading 170+ tons of 750 pound bombs. Now it is a helicopter shooting one Hellfire missile. In another few years it will be a Raven UAV dropping a cherry bomb.

#6  Chain Hawk

That does have a certain special ring to it.

#5  might be more fun to rig an A-10 up as a big R/C toy and turn it loose with the big gun. probably be quicker than all the gov't BS in 'qualifying' a new weapons system ( ie Chain Hawk)

#4  Need to arm one of these drones with a 7.62mm chain gun and a thousand rounds of ammo. It would be more cost-effective in the long run. I'm sure those missiles are expensive.

Global Hawk could easily carry that much.

Hmmmm, may be a good idea for OUR southern border. Kinda hard on the women and kids, but would sure put a stop to the "undocumented workers" streaming across the border.
