THIEVES tore the bumper and tow bar from a car when they tried to pull an automatic teller machine from the wall at a shopping centre in Melbourne's south. Detectives said the thieves attached a chain to the machine and hooked it to a car at a shopping centre in Narelle Drive, Aspendale Gardens, about 3.40am today. As they drove off, the chain tore the bumper and tow bar from the car, a Victoria Police spokesman said. A second car and trailer the thieves planned to use to carry away the teller machine was left at the scene. Detectives were investigating. |
