The shadow cast by a mega-mosque

When Abu Izzadeen, the firebrand Islamist militant, berated John Reid last week for "daring" to visit a Muslim area, the Home Secretary bridled, as did many others, at his suggestion that part of London was off limits for a British minister of the Crown.

There was nowhere in this country from which anyone should be excluded, Mr Reid said; nowhere that could be called exclusively Muslim. He was speaking just a couple of Tube stops from West Ham, close to the site for the 2012 Olympic stadium, where a huge row is about to erupt over plans to construct a mosque. However, this is not any old mosque built to serve the local community. It will be the largest place of worship in Europe, a gigantic three-storey Islamic centre, with schools and other facilities, able to hold at least 40,000 worshippers and up to 70,000 if necessary.

It will be called the London Markaz and it is intended to be a significant Islamic landmark whose prominence and stature will be enhanced by its proximity to the Olympic site. When television viewers around the world see aerial views of the stadium during the opening ceremony in six years' time, the most prominent religious building in the camera shot will not be one of the city's iconic churches that have shaped the nation's history, such as St Paul's Cathedral or Westminster Abbey, but the mega-mosque.

#12 When you read this in the Telegraph most respondents are vehemntly against this. Rightfully so. Muzzies use these mosks as armories world wide. They would have ability to cache enough weapons and troops to almost outnumber the entire British Army, and outnumber the those staged in the homeland, concentrated in East London. If this is allowed to go forward, Britain is lost.

Hmmmmm... reminds me of a walk Ariel Sharon took about 6 years ago.
Once they have their way, you can't even walk by on the sidewalk, or enter that part of town.

In the war being waged by radical Islamism against the west, such symbolism is of the utmost importance and significance. It is itself a strategic weapon of cultural and religious demoralisation. As Johnston observes, when people look at the Olympic village, itself a showcase for Britain, the dominant image will be not a church but a mosque towering over it. It will be a symbol of Islamic domination of Britain and Britains cultural surrender to the jihad, and as such will inspire many more jihadists on the basis that Britain has given up the cultural ghost.

#1 Much of the funding for the Markaz, which will cost about £100 million, is expected to come from Saudi Arabia.

If these idiots cannot connect the dots between Saudi Arabia and Wahhabist extremism, then they deserve a gigantic terrorist hive in their midst.
