#9 Saw Frank at Winterland in SF with the complete Overnight Sensation band. George Duke, Ian Underwood, Jean Luc Ponty, the whole gang. In some ways it's a pity that Zappa was so obsessed with putting a well-deserved hand up the skirts of Middle America. His creative genius knew no bounds and in many respects, he was one of America's finest classical composers. Listen carefully to "The Dogbreath Variations" off of "Uncle Meat" and you will notice that you are listening to a piece for classical chamber orchestra. A very perverted classical chamber orchestra, but still quite fine, nonetheless. "King Kong" is another magnum opus of Zappa's. Their version of Ravel's "Bolero" cut directly to disk (which prohibits even a single mistake) is a tour de force. |

#6 how did the early shark flesh eaters know urine's taste in the first place? According to a few books I've read on food history, one of the earliest ways of attracting migrating herds for purposes of domestication involved large human groups urinating in one single spot over an extended period of time. Most animal trails will lead to one of three places: water, forage or salt licks. By accumulating uric acids, early humans created artifical salt deposits and were able to steer herds their way. It stands to reason that someone along the way probably tasted the stuff. Shamans were also known for drinking their own urine in order to harvest excreted residual psychedellic drugs contained therein. Even disregarding everything mentioned above, the ripe aroma of a baby's soggy diaper gives a strong clue as to what flavor ammonia might have. |

#5 #3 a5089 - dunno, but some Hindus drink their own urine - maybe others do/did too? (BTW, urine itself is sterile, assuming no disease. I'd be more concerned about the cleanliness of the delivery system.) |
