Cultural Battlefield in Massachusetts 1st grade
2007-03-21
A federal court dismissed parents' complaints about a school district that was reading - to first-graders - a story about two princes who fall in love and marry each other. The parents wanted at least to be told when the kids were going to be read fairy tales about how normal gay marriage is.

No dice, said Judge Mark L. Wolf: Public schools are "entitled to teach anything that is reasonably related to the goals of preparing students to become engaged and productive citizens," he ruled. In Massachusetts, that includes learning to discard your parents' moral views. The state, having decided gay marriage is dandy, will indoctrinate its children in this from first grade on. The biological parents can buzz off.

#7  That's why God invented private schools.

#6  My condolences, xb. But at least you can enjoy the money.

To tinker with children's psychosexual development is just plain wrong.

#5  Why ANYBODY lives in the moral wasteland of Massachusetts amazes me.

Actually, most people here in the Peoples Republic are just fine with the way things are - in fact, they're proud of it.

Me? I'm essentially stuck in a highly specialized job that would result in a huge loss of income if I moved away.

#3  It is time for those schools to stop getting students and funds. Let them dry and wither on the vine.

(I would prefer digging up the vine and burning it, but I don't think most people would goferit.)

#2  Why ANYBODY lives in the moral wasteland of Massachusetts amazes me. I'd tell the principal of that school that my kid was coming home, would never be back, and that he/she was a perverted bastard who deserved horsewhipping.

It's time for people to flat refuse to pay school taxes. This garbage has got to stop.

#1  The Villahe will raise your children as it sees fit whether you like it or not. Public schools need to be returned to the control of the people and taken away from the Union. And Judges.
