Canadian troops move into Helmand |
2007-04-06 |
Canadian troops are rolling into Helmand province in southern Afghanistan as part of NATO's push to eliminate the Taliban in the area. The alliance is calling the action Operation Silver. Troops of the Royal Canadian Regiment battle group are moving west to support British and Afghan units fighting insurgents in the Sangin Valley. Maj. Alex Ruff, commander of the Canadian armoured task force, says his troops are being held in reserve. So far, there are no plans for the Canadians to be rushed into combat. |

#2 Helmond is the drug capitol of the world. The Taleban has been raking off 10% of proceeds for a decade. Typical Pakistan Muslim hypocrisy: they toss human bombs at troops who are trying to end the drug trade that has caused 2 million Pakistanis to be addicted to heroin. Unfortunately, members of the Kharzai government profit directly from drug dealing. Last year Kharzai himself ask for restraint in targeting civilian areas. |
