RAB recovers two precious statues

The RAB: is there anything they can't do?
BOGRA, Apr 6: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered two touchstone-made statues worth Tk 15 crore in Natore and Bogra districts on Tuesday and Thursday, reports UNB.

Our Desk adds: Touchstone statues and sculptures are frequently smuggled out of the country by the bond of thugs and smugglers. In the countryside there are temples and places where our ancient relics and heritage are lying uncared. The smugglers are always on the look out for an opportunity to steal the pieces of sculptures and relics brings them monetary fortune. The recovery of some statues and sculptures in rarely done and it is merely a tip of the iceberg.

Acting on a tip-off, RAB raided Kuri Papiya village under Singra upazila in Natore early Thursday and seized a Laxshmi Narayan statue, weighing around six maunds, worth Tk 10 crore. RAB said the statue was found while workers were digging out soil at a pond of Mofazzal Hossain. The valuable statue was later kept hidden, RAB said.

In another drive, the elite force recovered a 2.5-kg touchstone statue worth Tk 5 crore from Berabari village in Shajahanpur upazila early Tuesday. The rare statue was found abandoned during the drive.

#2  Sounds like the RAB is going into a new business. Reads like they were "recovered" from the original finders.
