Harry Reid: "War Is Lost" |
2007-04-19 |
The war in Iraq "is lost" and a US troop surge is failing to bring peace to the country, the leader of the Democratic majority in the US Congress, Harry Reid, said Thursday. "I believe ... that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week," Reid said, on the same day US President George W. Bush was giving a speech at an Ohio town hall meeting defending the war on terror. |

#38 What they never realize is that were they to win and the nation lose, they would be among the first that our enemies would put up against the wall. As the coldest of consolations, we can only hope. |

#37 Jebus, "Harry Reid" the leading majority aberration no less... roll over Sam Rayburn [House] and Mike Mansfield [Senate] real Democrats and real Patriots. |

#36 Moose, thanks. I knew what you meant, but I don't accord Copperheads like Reid enough respect for them to justify a response like "Nuts!." Reid is one of those people who is so self-absorbed that the damage to the country from his remarks doesn't even enter into his calculations. He wants power and money of course, but mainly power. His kind will say anything and do anything they feel necessary to advance their personal political careers. What they never realize is that were they to win and the nation lose, they would be among the first that our enemies would put up against the wall. |

#34 RWV: "...In December 1944, after Bastogne had already been liberated, and as a last-ditch effort to avoid complete defeat, HitlerÂ’s troops attacked again in the Ardennes, just as they did in 1914 and 1940. The goal was to advance to Antwerp, to cut off supply and separate British from American troops. "On December 16, taking advantage of the cold and the fog, the German artillery started the so-called Battle of the Bulge by attacking the sparsely deployed American troops around Bastogne. "A few days later, General Anthony C. McAuliffe and the 101st Airborne Division arrived to counter-attack but, after heavy fighting, got encircled in the city. On December 22, German emissaries asked for the American surrender, to which the GeneralÂ’s answer was quite brief: "Nuts!" |

#32 Clearly a day for people talking out their asses...here's a gem from alReuters (emphasis added) VIENNA (Reuters) - Iran's launch of uranium enrichment in an underground bunker, defying the United Nations, is a test-scale operation not producing nuclear fuel in meaningful amounts, diplomats said on Thursday. DIPLOMATS said? (a) which, uh, "Diplomats" (b) qualified because...? and (c) who gives a S**T?!? |

#31 Moose, nuts isn't the first word that came to my lips when I read this. It is my hope that God in his infinite wisdom gives Reid and Pelosi their well deserved reward. |

#20 The honourable Senator only gets to swan around as Majority Leader so long as the Democrats maintain their slim majority... and there is another election on the matter next fall. I am going to think of this as his swan song. Do try the veal here -- the chef has a remarkable touch with his sauces. ;-) |

#16 Harry Reid is a loser. Also a traitor. May the people of Nevada send him the proper message. Agreed! However, the S.O.B. is a Class III Senator and his term does not expire until 2011. So, unless he gets hit by a bus or something, we'll get to enjoy his antics for another 4 years. 8-( |

#10 I saw this and almost put my fist through my computer screen. This guy almost makes me pine for the days of lil' Tommy Daschle, but he would be saying the same crap. The Democrats are just awful (I am being very diplomatic with that term...must...control...emotion). I am madder than hell. |
