An anti-terrorism court on Saturday awarded death sentence to Mohammad Azam and Attaullah, activists of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, in a sectarian killing case. The court acquitted the third accused, Mohammad Ajmal alias Akram Lahori, by giving him the benefit of doubt. The three people were charged with killing Sadiq Ali, the owner of a bakery in the Kharadar area, on February 3, 2002. Judge Haq Nawaz Baloch had reserved the verdict on the last hearing after hearing the arguments of special public prosecutor (SPP) and the defendantsÂ’ counsel. |
