(SomaliNet) The African Union peacekeepers from Uganda in Somalia began Sunday demining mission in the capital - Mogadishu, one of the voilent cities in the world. The spokesman for the AU peacekeeping mission in Somalia Captian Paddy Ankunda told reporters this morning that the Ugandan peacekeepers started cleaning land mines from the capital. "we are doing this because the government soldiers are not trained to remove mines," said Ankund. He asked Somali people to help the AU soldiers to do thier job safely and smoothly because landmines claimed and will claim the lives of many people. In today's mision, three landmines have been removed from Yaqshid neighborhood, one of the areas hit by the recent fighting in north of Mogadishu. The move followed yesterday's bomb attack in south of the capital killing four of the government security forces.
