| Two Australian soldiers were wounded during a "contact" with the Taliban in southern Afghanistan in the past few days this month, the Defence Department says. Defence spokesman Andrew Nikolic said one of the two Special Operations Task Group (SOTG) soldiers wounded during a patrol in Oruzgan Province had been evacuated to a medical facility in Europe for treatment. "He is in a stable condition and responding very well to treatment - we expect him to return to Australia in the near future," Brigadier Nikolic said. The other soldier received superficial wounds. No further information would be provided on the soldiers' injuries, treatment or SOTG operations, Brigadier Nikolic said. |
