Suspected pro-Taliban militants on Monday shot dead an alleged leader of a gang after he ignored warnings to stop criminal activities in a tribal area, officials said.
Ameer Sayed was driving his car when he was ambushed by armed men on motorcycles in Darra Adam Khel, a town in a semi-tribal area bordering Peshawar, a local official told AFP. The unidentified attackers bravely fled after shooting him dead, the official said, on condition of anonymity. Residents said Sayed, 45, had been warned by militants that he would be killed if he did not stop activities that allegedly included car jacking, drug smuggling and kidnapping for ransom. |
