| Former village leader killed in southern Thailand |

| Insurgents shot dead a former village headman in Narathiwat on Friday morning, taking his gun with them, police said. Win Wangthong, 71, was attacked when he was riding a motorcycle to a tea shop at around 6.30am in Tak Bai district. Police said he was followed by two insurgents who were wearing masks. They shot him two times first when he was on the vehicle, before shooting him in the head one more time after he fell down to make sure he is dead. |
