Somalia: Nighttime clashes hit Mogadishu
2007-09-07
(SomaliNet) Fresh clashes erupted near the Mother and Child SOS hospital in north of the Somalia capital Mogadishu on Thursday night between the government troops and the local insurgents. Residents told Somalinet that the fighting began around 10:30pm tonight as explosions and exchange of gunfire could be heard in the area. The latest confrontation came when local insurgents fired rocked propelled grenades into the government position in the former fragrance factory where the soldiers responded with heavy weaponry. There is no immediate casualty from the latest gun battle.
Somalia once had a 'fragrance factory'?
Elsewhere in the capital, explosions and the rattle of the gunfire could be heard but it cannot be verified the exact direction of the incident.

Meanwhile, a bomb was thrown to a hotel in Hamar-Jajab district in east of the capital, which houses some of the delegates of the reconciliation congress that ended in Mogadishu last week. Witnesses told Somalinet that unknown men hurled a grenade bomb into the hotel, which resided by Puntland peace delegates but no casualty was reported. It is the second time that the hotel was attacked. In the nighttime, ambush attacks are targeted on the government positions in the capital, which is still under curfew.

#2  It's because they're as common as spitting on the street, nobody cares anymore.

#1  but it cannot be verified the exact direction of the incident

Is this because there are so many locations this happens that there is no way to attach a specific incident?
