| Troops kill gunman near Gaza fence |

| IDF troops killed a Palestinian gunman near the border fence in the central Gaza Strip overnight Thursday. The gunman fired at the soldiers and he was shot dead in the ensuing firefight. There were no casualties among the troops. In a separate incident, several mortar shells fired from the Strip toward the western Negev landed near the central Gaza fence. No one was wounded and no damage was reported. In the West Bank, IDF troops were fired on in the Balata refugee camp in Nablus and two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the soldiers. No one was wounded. Meanwhile, southeast of Nablus, IDF troops stopped a car carrying three Palestinians and found an improvised weapon in their possession. The weapon was confiscated and the Palestinians were transferred to police for interrogation. Troops found another improvised weapon, together with Kalashnikov bullets and a hunting rifle, in Ram a-Tira, southeast of Kalkilya. The soldiers had entered the village to break up a fight between rival Palestinian gangs. In addition, southwest of Hebron, an explosive device was detonated near a police patrol. No one was wounded. In another overnight incident, an Israeli vehicle was damaged after it was pelted with rocks thrown by Palestinians near Tarkumiya, northwest of Hebron. No one was wounded. |
