Thursday was a bad day to be a militant in Iraq |

The US and Iraqi forces have killed and captured 84 militants in scattered places in the country during the past 24 hours, US and Iraqi sources revealed on Thursday. An Iraqi army statement said that Iraqi forces killed three terrorists and captured 65 others in scattered places in the country, in addition to confiscating large amounts of ammunitions and explosives. The statement added that the operations were executed in the areas of Baghdad, Mosul, Ramadi, Salahuddine, Diala and Kirkuk. Furthermore, the US army announced its forces pounded today al-Qaeda's strongholds killing three terrorists and arrested 13 others in Abu Gharib area west of here. |

#1 I think we've turned the corner in Iraq. Now, if we can get Maliki and the sunnis to focus on unity this will degrade into a massive police action which spawns a strong Iraqi self control over their security. The trick will be to keep it from morphing into a police state, which is what it is becoming, and will become if opposition continues. |
