10 more alleged rioters remanded to police custody

Justice Khawaja Naveed Ahmed of the High Court of Sindh, in his capacity as the administrative judge of the Anti-Terrorism Courts Karachi division, remanded Friday 10 people, who were booked in three different cases of arson, theft and terrorism, to the custody of the investigation police till January 14 and 15. The Sharafi Goth police first produced two accused who were the watchmen of a police warehouse that stores non-serviceable items. Accused Deedar Ali and Ayub were charged with removing goods from the warehouse following the assassination of PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto. The AJ, perusing the remand papers, granted remand of both accused till January 14. The AJ also remanded accused Muhammad Baksh Palari, who was booked by the Gadap police for arson, theft and damage to private and public property on December 27. Earlier, he was produced before a judicial magistrate who declined the remand request and asked the investigation police to produce the accused before the AJ. The AJ also remanded accused Abbas, Muhammad Hasan, Deen Muhammad, Hidayatullah, Ghulam Nabi, Abdul Wahid and Muhammad Baksh to the custody of the Gadap police till January 15. They were charged with rioting, theft and spreading terrorism during the December 27 riots.
