| Tribal elder found dead in Mohmand Agency |

| GHALANAI: The body of a tribal elder was found in the Kong area of Khuzai tehsil in Mohmand Agency late on Tuesday, sources told Daily Times. Tribal elder Muhammad Afzal, his son Syed Asghar and Malik Mir Alam were kidnapped from Yakaghund by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday, the sources said, adding that Alam and Asghar were still missing. Kidnappings: Separately, unidentified people kidnapped Agency Population and Family Planning Officer Abdul Aziz, his driver Aftab and impounded their vehicle. Another tribal elder, Malik Nisar, was also kidnapped from the area. Also, security forces arrested a suspected militant in Drushkhela, while police raided a godown and recovered arms and ammunition from the Guli Bagh area of Swat on Wednesday, a Media Information Centre (MIC) statement and police officials said. The godown was owned by an alleged militant commander, Qari Mushtaq, the police officials said, adding that the weapons recovered included three AK-47s and over 200 rounds. The arms were handed over to the military authorities, the officials said. Curfew was relaxed in Swat from 6am to 7pm on Wednesday, the MIC statement said. It said that militants tried to set ablaze an abandoned police post in Kalakot near the Sakhra area on Wednesday, but residents of the area foiled the attempt. |
