Obama proposes return of involuntary servitude

#13  Those utes don't vote. They're sorta like 2/3rd of a free man. I find it so interesting when they pick on the one group that can't vote. If the efforts are so 'noble' why aren't adults, who've never done any public service, being tagged too? Free labor, no cost, because the state owns you and you work for the state. Or as someone right up Obama's political alley would say - from each according to his abilities, to each according to his need.

#12  So when I'm President, I will set a goal for all American middle and high school students to perform 50 hours of service a year, and for all college students to perform 100 hours of service a year. This means that by the time you graduate college, you'll have done 17 weeks of service.

Wahahhahahaha...he'll get no inner-city "youth vote" with this plan.

#11  Did the 13th Amendment ban bad luck?

#10  The obvious jibe should be that "Obama wants to repeal the 13th Amendment".

This hits where it hurts, once somebody finds out what the 13th Amendment did.

#9  Great - more MASS PIRG / City Year socialists in the making I have to dodge at Park Street once a week, not to mention the smelly vagrant bums...

#8  Unfortunately, "service" is often just a misnomer for liberal causes. Do your "service" by working for an environmental group or some commie community group. This is just another way to indoctrinate the yoots.

#7  My kids have to do X number of service hours per year as a school requirement. At their private, Catholic school which I voluntarily send them to.

Not quite the same thing.

#3  Sounds like something that Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia embraced.

#2  Problem is, the people who made the mess are pretty much never the ones dragooned into cleaning the mess up...

#1  Fits with the Spengler article in Opinion today.
Right from his book.
He seems to want the clan, corruption of Indonesia with freedom dumped.
