Talking to Mareeg online, the general director of Justice Ministry, Haji Muhammad Keyrow Adan, has stated that there are concerns that about 500 Quranic schools and mosques have been closed down for security reasons in the war racked Somali capital Mogadishu.
He also mentioned that it was essential to work for peace together to let those religious centres to resume their operations. "We are not here to tell the people about peace, You know that Islam is peace, So, I urge the people to work together for peace, You are also aware that if there is no peace there is no life, We are know that about 500 Quranic schools, mosques and universities have been closed down for security reasons", said the general director.
Elsewhere Religious leaders in Mogadishu have expressed their concern about the closure of more than 30 mosques in the city and urged the residents to embark on re-opening of the mosques. There are about 30 mosques that are closed in Mogadishu, some of them having been turned into bases for Ethiopian troops, while in some others; the neighborhoods have been deserted by residents due to the frequent fighting in the areas they are located in. |
