RussiaÂ’s Invasion of South Ossetia: The Kosovo Precedent In Play?
2008-08-10

#2  liberalhawk, the Russians are playing mind games with the US and Europe. One of the strongest black letter laws under International Law used to be the integrity of a nations boundaries. The shenanigans in Kosovo put an end to that. As the Russians have pointed out, there are 200 regions worldwide who want to secede, which now come into play, based on the Kosovo precedent. The Russians will go the whole hog and force the Georgian Government to capitulate and then put them on trial for war crimes. As you pointed out "ethnic cleansing with genocidal implications" spring to mind.
And by the way it wasn't the international community AKA UN who gave warning, it was NATO. The Kosovo chickens are coming home to roost.
And what good did the intervention in Kosovo do for the US and Europe? The only ones who expressed gratitude was Saudi Arabia, who caused the problem to start with with their export of Wahabi ideology to Kosovo.

#1  Can they show the videos of Ossetians being loaded into trains by Georgian troops for weeks before Russia entered?

And now that Georgia is withdrawing, will the fighting stop?

This is bogus. Kosovo is AND SHOULD BE a precedent for intervention WHERE a deliberate ethnic cleansing with genocidal implications is taking place. And where teh international community is given full warning.

Russia didnt respond to dead Ossetians, but to the assertion of georgian power.
