Civilian death toll rises to 76, not counting bunnies, kittens and baby ducks

KABUL, Afghanistan U.S.-led troops attacked a compound where Taliban leaders were meeting and killed 30 militants, American and Afghan military officials said yesterday, but the Interior Ministry said a large number of civilians died.

The U.S. said it would investigate. The coalition was striking back against insurgents who have stepped up attacks on foreign and Afghan troops. The coalition said its troops called in airstrikes on the compound in the Shindand district of western Herat province Thursday.

About 30 militants were killed and five others were detained, a spokesman, 1st Lt. Nathan Perry, said. An Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman, Gen. Mohammad Zaher Azimi, confirmed the clash but said five of the 30 dead were civilians.

The Afghan Interior Ministry said U.S. coalition bombs killed 76 civilians, including 19 women and 50 children under the age of 15.

Besides, then they'd probably go after y'all for harbouring me, and we all know what an evil, consciousless ASSSSSSSSSSHOOOOOOLE I am. I must admit disreputable startled me a bit, as Rantburg is not one of those heavily trafficked sites that would actually have a reputation -- most of those who respond that strongly had stumbled across us while searching for something else. As for fucking, I thought that was a normal behaviour, so I'm not sure why he is so upset about it.

Finally, since when America sneezes, Europe gets the flu, one would think Mr. Sane European Old White Dude would be more concerned about the impact on his part of the world of those gentlemen he seems to object to so strongly, rather than feeling sorry for us. But then, I've been very good at understanding people.

How do you know those babies born weren't the result of several generations of inbreeding? Islam forbids marrying outwide the religion and as iolated as Afghan tribes are from the rest of the world, that would be a more likely explanation.
