US says UN overstated civilian deaths in Afghanistan |
2008-08-28 |
![]() The results of the review have been presented to Afghan government officials. The Americans have asked them to participate in a joint U.S.-Afghan investigation in hopes of arriving at a common conclusion. The Afghan government has said publicly that dozens of civilians were killed, and it sharply criticized the U.S. military for a mistaken attack. The U.S. military says it is sticking to its initial finding that 25 militants were killed, plus five civilians. |

#2 I find the above Afghan claims quite modest - in my opinion it should be at least a few thousand. Nine years ago, a certain David Sheffer, the US ambassador-at-large for war crimes announced that as much as" 225.000 Kosovar men may hae been killed" by bloodthirsty Serbs. Blatant lie - according to the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia the total number of victims was just ... 2788 (both fighting sides), i.e. about 80 (eighty) times less. I wonder how and when did USA acquire the patent to inflate numbers? |

#1 How about telling the UN that we will cut our funding to them as long as they lie and propagandize against us. Then shut off payments. Totally. Draw a line in the sand and when they sueal and bitch, break out the UN scandal docs we've been burying |
