A bloody clash on Tuesday between activists of the All-Pakistan Muttahida Students Organisation (APMSPO) and the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) claimed at least four lives and injured 14 at the University of Karachi (KU).The IJT's current and former information secretaries, Osama Bin Adam and Abdul Jabbar Baloch, were among those who died. The death of two others was also claimed by APMSO activists but there was no confirmation.
Tension had prevailed since morning on the campus, but clashes began at about 11:00 am when rival groups got involved in a fist fight in the Arts Lobby. Some students informed The News that about 100 to 150 students belonging to APMSO entered the university through the Maskan gate at 06:30 pm and started indiscriminate firing at IJT activists.
