Suspects 'walk on fire' to prove innocence
2008-09-03
A jirga, headed by Bolan District Nazim Sardar Khan Rind, on Tuesday declared three accused murderers innocent after they walked on fire to prove their innocence. The three were accused of murdering a woman and two men. The deceased and the accused were members of the Sundrani tribe. The accused had claimed that they had not murdered anyone and that the woman had committed suicide, but her family alleged that she had been murdered. The jirga had asked the accused to prove their innocence to the elders according to Baloch tradition, which they did by walking across 10 feet of fire. They also swore their innocence on the holy Quran. Thousands of people witnessed the incident.

#6  It's one of those things anyone can do... unless they can't.

#3  I thought its been generally proven that anyone can walk over hot coals. Your feet secrete a great deal of water when they really need to that forms a layer between the fire and the skin. Has everyone not heard about this or did I dream it?
