Lebanon's' Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has accused Israel of launching an intelligence war against Lebanon to block national reconciliation. Berri, addressing an Iftar banquet hosted by his Amal movement on Thursday, also declared support for the agreement reached with Mustaqbal Movement leader Saad Hariri on removing banners and posters from Beirut in the next three days as a measure towards healing the nation's political rifts.
The speaker also declared support for meeting by local communities throughout Lebanon to facilitate reconciliation.
He noted that Israel was in the process of obtaining sophisticated weapons while it prevents Lebanon from acquiring night visual equipment for its army.
He said Lebanon would succeed in adopting a defense strategy in cooperation between the people, the army and the country's resistance forces.
