The Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) has brought exemplary peace to Bara tehsil, and criminal elements of the area have been completely eradicated, LI Khyber Agency spokesman Haji Misri Gul said on Wednesday. The spokesman said that a recent report in Daily Times and Daily Aaj Kal about the group was misleading and not based on facts. He said the LI was working to eradicate evil from society and the residents of Bara supported LI chief Mangal Bagh for that. Stressing that the LI's hard work had made the local criminals forego crime, the spokesman challenged media teams to visit Bara and witness first hand the 'freedom' the local people had. He said even the Sikh and Christian residents of Bara appreciated the LI. He warned the media to ensure that reports about the LI were based on facts, and to avoid publishing news that provoked people.
