| First major Israel-Hamas fighting in Gaza City |

| Israeli troops engaged in heavy gun battles late Monday with Hamas fighters in Gaza City for the first time since the start of the army's ground offensive, military sources and witnesses said. Large explosions and heavy exchanges of fire rocked Shejaiya neighbourhood of eastern Gaza City as Israel pressed its campaign to halt Hamas rocket attacks. Hamas said in a statement that its fighters had fired missiles at seven tanks in the same district. The Islamic Jihad movement said several of its members were killed in the fighting. Israeli military sources confirmed that troops were involved in heavy clashes in that area. Fifty Palestinians -- including 12 children -- were killed in the Israeli offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip on Monday, the head of the territory's emergency services told AFP. Israeli fire killed a mother and four of her children in Gaza City after a rocket hit their house, medics said. The official, Muawiya Hassanein, said 555 Palestinians have now been killed since the start of Israel's offensive to halt Hamas rocket fire on Dec. 27. He added that 2,700 people have been wounded in air raids and tank shelling. |

| #9 Keep on the offensive and leave them no quarter until the objective is achieved. Hear that Olmert? Don't back down until the OBJECTIVE is ACHIEVED! And perhaps more importantly, don't have so much as one inch of trust or one ounce of faith in anything your international 'allies' are about. Bottom line, you own this and the only way out from under it is to make it work for Israel. It will also work for the Paleos accordingly. |

| #7 Even France 2 has bee fooled by Hamas propaganda PARIS: FranceÂ’s public broadcaster was forced to apologize to viewers yesterday after it mistakenly used amateur footage shot in 2005 to illustrate a report on the current Gaza conflict. France 2 television on Monday broadcast part of an amateur video presented in a voiceover commentary as showing the fallout from an Israeli air strike on a civilian area in Gaza on January 1. Dating from September 2005, the video, which has been widely circulated on the Internet, actually shows civilians wounded in the accidental explosion of a pick-up truck loaded with Hamas rockets at a rally in Jabaliya refugee camp. | #6 Im sick of hearing about civilian deaths... Based on new reports from gaza every single death was an innocent women or child. The fact is once you strap a bomb vest to your women and children.. They are no longer Off limits! |

| #2 Fifty Palestinians -- including 12 children -- were killed in the Israeli offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip on Monday I wonder how many of those were killed by indiscriminate fire by Hamass TOWARD the Israelis, and how many were killed by the Israelis returning fire. I'd bet at LEAST 50/50, if not weighted heavily against Hamass. |
