Several bomb blasts strike Baghdad |
2009-01-14 |
(AKI) - A series of bomb blasts killed at least nine people and injured 18 others in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Monday. In one attack, a suicide bomber blew himself up at the entrance of Baghdad's Jadidah market, killing four and wounding nine others, said Iraqi news agency Voices of Iraq. In a separate incident, two policemen were killed and six others were injured when an improvised explosive device went off in the centre of the capital. In the neighbourhood of Yarmouk, a roadside bomb struck an Iraqi army truck carrying ammunition killing three soldiers and injuring four bystanders. Although attacks in war-torn Iraq have diminished in the past 18 months, militants continue to target security forces. |
