| UN chief calls Swat flogging unacceptable | |

| UNITED NATIONS: Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday said the flogging of a girl in Pakistan was “unacceptable” and the chief justice had taken the right decision to launch an investigation. “While I appreciate different systems and traditions in different countries, respecting and upholding basic human rights – this is most important,” Ban told reporters. “These are universally accepted and upheld principles which we must respect.”
