| 10 people killed in SUV rollover near Tucson | |

The Ford Excursion had no rear seat and most of the men and women were ejected when the SUV crashed just before midnight Saturday near Sonoita, about 40 miles southeast of Tucson. Authorities said all the victims are believed to be undocumented immigrants from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Equador and perhaps Mexico. Arizona Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Joy Craig told The Associated Press that the remote area where the crash happened is a route commonly used by those smuggling illegal immigrants into the U.S. "We see the people stacked like wood frequently," she said. "If they had had the right number of people in there and they all had their seat belts on, they would have lived." A dozen people injured in the crash were treated at area hospitals and authorities were looking for possibly more. The identity of the driver, passengers and the vehicle's owner are being withheld pending their identification and notification of relatives. Many victims did not have ID, Craig said. Investigators have not identified the driver, but if he survives, Craig said he would likely be charged. "Basically, this is like a 10-time homicide scene," she said. Craig could not confirm reports of five victims who fled the crash scene and sought help from a Sonoita gas station. U.S. Border Patrol has eight men who were treated at local hospitals in custody, Border Patrol spokesman Omar Candelaria said. | |

| #6 Lots of them die trying to get here. There's a story in last week's San Diego Reader about some guys who were hiking out in the boondocks near the border and found the corpse of a little girl in the sand. Conditions are brutal out there and if you don't have enough water you just don't make it. We hear about it so often that we don't even think much about it anymore. But it must have been a shock for the hikers. |

| #1 All the more reason to observe traffic obligations here. Now there are body bags filled with real persons that must be identified and shipped back so Familia may see them before they are put in to the ground. It may be that Illegal Immigration is illegal or downright dangerous. Make the call before you leave your safe homes. Count me as you would like, but I know those that took the whole seven years to get over here and they paid over $8,000 to get it. Yet they did it legally and have done it safely. Mexico needs to be fixed by Mexicans, and no, it is not that far from God. He has been there. It only requires dedication, and yes, maybe blood. But far less than what has been shed from being raped by cyotes and dealers on the border. Integeity, Courage, and maybe a little infamy could help all of us right now. I AM willing to go right there to the border with you if need be. I do not care where I need to operate weapons or other funny works. Get a damn handle on it fast before I have an anurism. |
