ISLAMABAD: The World Food Programme (WFP) on Thursday announced that it would continue its humanitarian operations in the country.
Until the next big kaboom ... | “We have to balance the safety of our staff with our mandate to feed people. This is the worst single loss of life in the history of WFP,” Amir M Abdulla, WFP deputy executive director said at a news conference. He was referring to the suicide attack on the WFP office in Islamabad which resulted in the deaths of five UN staff members. “What is important here is that we find a secure and workable balance between protecting our staff and carrying out our mandate to feed the hungry in Pakistan,” he said. |
