Gingrich endorses Hoffman
2009-11-01
(CNN)-- Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who came under fire from some conservatives for endorsing Dede Scozzafava in next week's special Congressional election in New York, is now backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.

Gingrich made the announcement via Twitter shortly after the Republican Party nominee Scozzafava announced she was releasing supporters from their commitment to back her.

"Scozzafava dropping out leaves hoffman as only anti-tax anti-pelosi vote in ny 23 Every voter opposed to tax increases support doug hoffman," Gingrich wrote on Twitter.

#14  It's only a short-term fix, Don Vito Uleash3305, then people act on their resentment of the burners.

#13  Overall, it is better for the long-term growth of the movement to welcome converts than to burn heretics, so I'm inclined to cut people slack for past transgressions so long as they end up on the side of the angels.

Actually, burning a few heretics now and then tends to keep the converts in line. Besides, everyone enjoys a good bonfire.
