Is China headed toward collapse? |
2009-11-11 |
Hat tip, Instapundit ...thereÂ’s a growing group of market professionals who see a different picture altogether. These self-styled China bears take the less popular view: that the much-vaunted Chinese economic miracle is nothing but a paper dragon. In fact, they argue that the Chinese have dangerously overheated their economy, building malls, luxury stores and infrastructure for which there is almost no demand, and that the entire system is teetering toward collapse. |

#7 ION SAME CMF > MORE MISSLES ACROSS THE STRAIT [ mainland China Missle Buildup agz Taiwan]. POSTER > CHIN-TAIWAN WAR > Of Chin's 1500 Ballistic MIssles curr aimed at Taiwan, Chin only needs < 500 to deal wid Taiwan, REMAINDER OF APPROXI 1000 BMS CAN BE USED AGZ US, etc. MIL RECUE FORCES; + ARTIC > SUN YANG MING [VP of TWN Think Tank CROSS-STRAIT INTERFLOW PROSPECT FOUNDATION] = Improving CHIN-TAWIAN RELATIONS does not mean that TAIWAN shouild stop arming itself, nor refrain from close MilPol = Geopol collusion-ties in favor of a "CHINA vs. TAIWAN-USA" CONCEPT. |

#5 Versus CHINESE MILITARY FORUM > INDIA IS THE BEST [ECONOMIST.com Magz link]. NUTSHELL = INDIA'S VARIOUS COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGES-ENDOWMENTS makes it so that it, NOT CHINA, may potens be the one to REPLACE AMERICA AFTER PAX AMERICANA ENDS. albeit CHIN will likley still be an important regional-global econ partner for [post-Amer]India??? |

#4 I don't buy collapse but I do believe they may find a lost decade in their future, much like Japan did (and fearfully the US might). That's what happens when the underpinnings are covered in lies. |

#2 Even if the Chinese economy did collapse, what would that look like? Any different from the way things are now? |

#1 Nope. Just opened a luxury mall here and it's doing fine. Rolls-Royce dealership, too. Teetering towards collapse is wishful thinking, and anyway the Chinese are capable of incredible belt-tightening when the government tells them to. |
