#6 Tish, tosh. All the Argies have to do is put a few hundred soldiers ashore once the oil is a pumpin'. Would the Brits be able to send the single super carrier they won't pay to build? Um, no. |

#5 As bad a shape as the Brit military is in today, the Argies are in much worse. Their economy could not afford the smallest war -- I don't think they can even afford a brush fire or a police action, and maybe can't afford a border disturbance (a coup they can always afford). |

#4 "Brits will do all the work and the Argentines will get a share just because." How ..... |

#3 Argentina will file complaints with various international bodies, would court, trade boards, etc. Tie it up for years until the Brits agree to some kind of revenue split. Brits will do all the work and the Argentines will get a share just because. |

#2 I dunno Glenmore - the Scots are involved, and they're pretty, um, shrewd. |

#1 Argentina will probably let the drilling proceed, and if anything of substance is discovered, demand a share, which of course would not be given. They would use that as justification to retake Las Malvinas and kick the British out, which the modern British and European administrations would not contest. |
