Two Qaeda militants killed in Yemen: official
2010-01-05
[Al Arabiya Latest] Two al-Qaeda militants were killed and one injured in clashes with government forces in Yemen, a Yemeni security official told Reuters on Monday, while the United States and Britain kept their embassies in Yemen closed for a second day.

"Clashes are still continuing," the official said, adding that the militants were thought to be behind threats that prompted the closure of the U.S. embassy in Sanaa.

Yemeni authorities meanwhile have tightened security measures at and around the capital's airport, as well as around several embassies, an AFP correspondent said.

New checkpoints were installed along the airport road while security measures were reinforced around the missions of Britain, Germany, Saudi Arabia and the United States. Later in the day, France also closed its embassy.

The U.S. embassy has cited threats by al-Qaeda, which U.S. intelligence agencies believe has a growing presence in Yemen. An aide to President Barack Obama has said the United States had indications al-Qaeda was planning an attack in Sanaa.

#1  "Two al-Qaeda militants were killed and one injured"? Quick--we better evacuate that injured Qaeda fighter to a U.S. hospital to ensure that he's given proper health care (since it's a "right").

Then, once we've nursed him back to health with medicine & halal soup, we should introduce him to his new pro bono lawyer. Then he should be Mirandised.

Then he can be interrogated with no harsh techniques--only direct questions--which he can choose to answer or not based on the basis of his lawyer's counsel and any plea bargain they try to work out.

Then he can be tried before a U.S. civilian court, but can't be subject to the death penalty, because that is cruel & unusual punishment don't ya know.

Eventually he should get a parole hearing and be released back to the Middle East for further rehabilitation, where he may or may not have the opportunity to escape.

After escape, if he can help form a new Al Qaeda sub-group, so be it. But you shouldn't be alarmed, because Al Qaeda is only a group of violent extremists who periodically cause man-made disasters that can be managed by effective law enforcement techniques.

There, now don't you feel better about the world?
