Zelaya plans Mexico stay, later return to Honduras
2010-01-23
Ousted President Manuel Zelaya will leave the Brazilian Embassy next week and travel to the Dominican Republic before settling in Mexico and planning his eventual return to Honduras, an aide said in an interview published Friday.
The Zelaya suite at the Tegucigalpa Jail has fresh sheets.
Having won the day, I doubt seriously the current and next Honduran governments are going to treat Mel with much consideration. He might want to stay in Mexico.

#3  Moose - I don't believe his status is "stateless". He does face criminal charges for massive treasury theft. He's been avoiding arrest by diplo-passage and embassy hospitality.

#2  I think the government of Honduras could have much amusement by reminding all concerned that Zelaya is a "stateless person", and ask if they are willing to grant him citizenship in their country, since were he to attempt to return to Honduras, he would be an "illegal alien", subject to immediate deportation.

#1  When you think Mexico, think Trotsky. Sweet dreams.
