Chinese warn Boeing over Taiwan
2010-02-04
China has threatened to sanction firms involved in a US-approved $6.4bn (£4bn) weapons deal with Taiwan. That would include US aerospace giant Boeing, which dominates China's airline market ahead of main rival Airbus. Boeing subsidiary McDonnell Douglas is delivering missiles worth $37m to Taiwan, the US government has said.
Perhaps President Obama should to fly to Beijing and do a full on kowtow.

#9  It has been the policy of the U.S. since before Roosevelt (that is Teddy) to engage with China and the Chinese people. There is no reason to change that policy now. We need to accept that they have real security concerns with shipping lanes, crazy Muslims, and uncertain borders.

We should stand up for inalienable human rights and Western values, because without those everything fails as we have observed in countless tyrannical states since ancient times.

We should not worry much about exchange rates, their pathetic client states like Iran, Burma, and North Korea, or their empty threats about Taiwan. Simply opposing these follies with strength and confidence will carry the day

#8  Don't trade with enemies or those that want to be your enemy. Cry for our children that in our elites greed has overtaken survival instincts.

#7  Never mind tariffs -- inspect for health and safety issues. Anything that fails, confiscate and destroy the goods, and fine the manufacturer severely. But do give them the opportunity to pay for their own retest, should they so desire, and if the results don't match, let them pay for a third test to confirm, one way or another.

#6  If not now, when? Confront them with policy and confront them with tarriff's, and use the trillions of dollars of federal spending to reinvigorate the manufacturing sector needs to replace the Chinese crap.
If we wait, will we owe them less, or be less under thier arrogant thumb?
NOW is the time to remind them they need us to buy their crap. And if we actually cut off all their theft and spying on our industry, gee, we might actually return to being the worlds greatest industrial power, and pay off the debt through the sale of quality merchandise.

#5  I guess the Chinese have estimated they can attain economic recovery without the American market. Wait till they see a Tea Party movement put them into the cross hairs. Almost as good as financial institutions and professional politicians.

#4  China is a bit pushy lately. I say F*CK em! The less dependent we are on them, early, the better.

#3  China keeps giving stuff to bad guys. They're not used to consequences lately, so maybe this will make them sit up and take notice.

As for China holding the threat of sanctions over Boeing, let them get their spare parts from Airbus.
