Ohio murderer accused of threatening federal authorities
2010-05-06
A prison inmate who was once accused of threatening to kill former President Bush, is facing new charges for threatening federal officials in Northeast Ohio. 41-year-old Clifton Cousins was already serving time in the Ohio Penitentiary for murder, arson and robbery when he caught the attention of federal authorities in 2004.

Federal prosecutors say Cousins, who is also known as Abdullah Jihad Al-Malik, was later convicted of threatening to kill President Bush. But they say Cousins was upset when Judge David Dowd in Akron refused to allow him to serve his state and federal sentences at the same time, so he allegedly mailed a menacing series of letters that threatened to kill the judge and his family. Authorities say he also threatened to blow up the federal courthouse in Akron.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Getz says one of the envelopes "contained a packet of white powder which the letter alleged was arsenic and basically there was additional threats to the judge related to destroying a federal building with a pipebomb."

Wednesday, a federal grand jury returned an eight count indictment against Cousins, accusing him of trying to intimidate the court. If convicted of the new federal charges, Clifton Cousins could see an additional 100 years tacked onto his current sentence.

"If convicted" how about we let him threaten from the end of a rope? Problem solved, no more BS.
