Iran is escalating its aggression against Iraq. Official Iraqi source said that Iranian fighter jets flew over Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). At the same time, Iranian artillery has been shelling border areas for the last two weeks, causing thousands of families to flee their homes for fear for their lives. The shelling has destroyed homes, schools and bridges.
KRG President Mas'oud Barazani called on Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad to intervene and bring an end to the Iranian shelling. He reminded Al-Maliki that it is the responsibility of the federal government to protect the country's borders.
Time to send in the fly swatters. Erbil is about 75 miles from the border. You can bet that the Iranians were looking for ground radar to ID. |
