SALAH AL-DIN / Aswat al-Iraq: A policeman was killed and two civilians wounded in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack that targeted the assistant director of al-Dalouiya police department, a security source in Salah al-Din province said on Sunday.“Assistant Director of al-Dalouiya Police Department, Lt. Colonel Qandeel Khaleel, survived an attempt on his life when an IED went off near him in Balad district, (70 km) south of Tikrit,' the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The blast, however, left one policeman killed and two civilians who happened to be near the attack site wounded,' he added. The source did not elaborate on the incident.
Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, lies 110 km north of Baghdad.
