Ten Die in Northern Mexico
Ten individuals died in ongoing drug and gang violence including a two year old child shot to death with his father in Juarez, Chihuahua and a Nogales, Sonora police officer shot to death.
- An unidentified bus driver was shot in front of his passengers in Juarez Thursday, say Mexican news reports. The attack took place on the road Juärez-Porvenir and Manuel J. Clouthier when the driver realizing he was the target, attempted to escape to the back of the bus only to fall over shot dead.
- A man was shot aboard his Jeep Liberty Thursday according to Mexican press reports. Gustavo Prieto Ruiz was shot as he tried to escape the attack near the intersection of Municipio Libre and Libertad in the Chaveña district.
Another, unidentified, man was wounded in the leg and treated at a local medical facility.
- Three unidentified men were hunted down and shot dead in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Thursday evening, according to Mexican press reports.
Apparently all three victims were together in the Riberas de Sacramento district when they were attacked by several armed suspects. The victims attempted to escape the assault by running in different directions.
The first victim was shot near the intersection of calles RÃÂo Orinoco and RÃÂo Negro. The second victim was shot near the intersection of calles Rio Rhin and Rio Urual. The third victim was shot in a vacant house on Calle Rio Danubio. Reports say one of the victims was a police agent on disability.
- Three unidentified men in their 20s were shot to death in Juarez Friday afternoon, according to Mexican press reports. The assault took place near the intersection of Avenida Tecnologico and Bulevar Teofilo Borunda in the city center as the trio were changing a flat tire on their Dodge Nitro when a single armed suspects shot the three without warning. The Dodge Nitro had Texas plates.
- An unidentified man and his two year old son were shot to death late Friday night in Juarez according to Mexican press reports. The assaut took place on calle Riveras del Maple in the Riveras del Bravo 9 district. The driver attempt to reverse his Jeep vehicle but was unable to escape the shooting.
- A Nogales police officer was shot to death Friday morning, accoridng to Mexican press reports. Jesus Enrique Salas Reyes, who was assigned to Sexual Crimes and Domestic Violence area, was shot at about 1030 hrs. as he arrived at work. He was shot with AK-47 assault rifles. Reports say armed suspects were waiting for the officer aboard a Nissan Altima.
- Mexican Federal agents seized 841 kilograms of marijuana and several vehicles in a raid near the Juarez airport expansion Thursday, say Mexican press reports. The raid took place on Calle Kenia.
Stolen vehicles seized include: a Dodge Durango truck, a Ford Lobo, a Ford Expedition, a Chevrolet Suburban, a Jeep Liberty, a Lincoln Escalade and a Hyundai Tiburon. Other vehicles seized include: a Dodge Stratus, a Mercury Grand Marquis, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a Suzuki.
