The vote which got a 68 percent back from the parliament will take effect from 2012. A Catalonian literary agent in Barcelona, Carlota Torrents, told TOLOnews on the phone that she respects the decision of the majority. Bull-fighting has already lost popularity in our country, she said. According to Carlota, bull-fighting is practiced in some Catalonian villages in a less violent way in which they play with bulls without killing them. "I think, even if the parliament had not decided to ban bull-fighting, it could have gone itself in some years," she said. When asked whether she supports the ban, Carlota said: "Personally, I'm against any kinds of fight, including bull-fighting. I think it's not a good idea to make animals suffer in any way. I don't consider bull-fighting as an 'equal fight' because the bull is weakened and bleeds a lot and then gets killed by the bull-fighter. That's not bravery!" |
