U.S. ambassador to attend A-bomb ceremony in Hiroshima

"US Ambassador to Japan John Roos will represent the United States at the Aug. 6 Hiroshima Peace Memorial to express respect for all of the victims of World War II,," State Department spokesman Philip Crowley was quoted as saying at a press conference.

"We thought it was the right thing to do," he said in response to a question as to the decision to send a U.S. representative to the event has any special meaning.

#1  So, when's the Japanese ambassador going to show up at Manila for the 'victims'.

Note to the hand wringers, the Japanese choose not to fold the cards even when they knew they'd lost the war. Time to put the blame on the leadership in Tokyo for the pain and suffering of their civilian population. The same population who the same leadership told to commit suicide at Saipan and Okinawa rather than be captured.
