Franken asks voters to support Blue Dog leader because she'd support Pelosi
2010-08-10
South Dakota voters should reelect Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D) this fall because she'd support keeping Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) as Speaker of the House, Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) said over the weekend.

Franken boosted the co-chairwoman of the centrist Blue Dog Coalition in the House by emphasizing the specter of a Republican takeover that would make House GOP leader John Boehner (Ohio) the Speaker next year.

"I think she's a great leader, and I really believe in her," Franken said of Herseth Sandlin, as reported by the Rapid City Journal.

#4  I think the GOP should splice the "but we need to be able to have somebody here in South Dakota who's going to vote for Speaker Pelosi, not for Speaker Boehner," audio to the name of every Blue Dog Dem in their campaignads around the country.

As in:

(Announcer with a voice like Franken's) Vote for Heath Shuler because...(Al Franken) we need ...somebody here in (Announcer)North Carolina...(Franken) who's going to vote for Speaker Pelosi, not for Speaker Boehner,"

#3  Supporting Pelosi would be a huge reason why I would vote for the other guy.

#2  Ah, Ricky, why show your cards so early in the game?

#1  What I'm worried about is that the prospect of "Speaker Boehner" and "Majority Leader McConnell" may wind up encouraging just enough Trunk voters to stay home that the Quislingrats wind up winning by default. Boehner and McConnell are two VERY large reasons why the GOP flushed its budget-hawk cred down the crapper during the first 6 years of G-Dub's Administration. They're the problem, not the solution. Now OTOH, if Steele and the RNC would have a dual testicular and cerebral transplant and announce that Paul Ryan will be Speaker and Tom Coburn the Senate Majority Leader if the Trunks win...
