Abu Abdelfettah launches new initiative for reconciliation
2010-08-20
[Ennahar] Zeraoua Ahmidache, known under the name of Sheikh Abdelfettah, spokesman of the association Essahoua Al Islamia (Islamic awakening) representing the mosques in Algeria, has announced plans to launch a new initiative, based on the national reconciliation, which seeks to convince the residue of armed groups in the bush to cease their armed activities and join life in society.

Sheikh Abdelfettah describes the initiative as a legal proposal to end the crisis in Algeria. It is an initiative which was attended by Muslim Ulema from Algeria and from abroad who have enriched it by their contributions, taking into account the interests of both parties, ie. The armed groups and the Algerian state.

The sheikh has indicated, in his speech yesterday, on Al Jazeera Channel, that the armed elements in the bush have not participated in the events that marked the country during the last two decades. These are people, according to him, who have been erred and if they knew the truth, there would be no crisis now. They would have found that national reconciliation is the best solution for the country and the people.

There are foreign parties who are involved in this situation to settle scores and exploit the Islamists in their evil designs, said our interlocutor. He added that it is necessary to accept reconciliation which is the only solution to the violent crisis.

Concerning the point of view of the Algerian authorities, Abdelfettah Sheikh said he had met with some partieswith whom he discussed this initiative. An initiative based on individual beliefs and the role of Ulema and which is managed by no party.
